Twin Ports Chapter

The first official day of summer has finally arrived and everyone is busy trying to cram in all the summer things we do in the few snowless months we are allotted. There are so many activities and places we want to go that it is sometimes hard to choose what to do. It is sort of like a “spin the dial” game…hummmm; that might not be such a bad idea after all! So here is a list to keep you wingin’ this month.
Oh, by the way July is National Ice Cream month, so DQ here we come.

Dates you should know and places you should go this month. PLEASE NOTE TIME CHANGES
July 6…………..Ernie’s Sturgeon Lake….leave Thompson Hill at 6:30 pm

July 11………..Total solar eclipse, but only visible if you are in the South Pacific, so I’m told.

July 13………..Business Meeting at Spirits in Carlton…meet there at 6:30 pm

July 17-18…..Duluth Air Show, Duluth International Airport

July 18………Ride for Kids. A very worthwhile, fun and rewarding event. Check out their web site at
http://www.pbtfus.org/rideforkids/calendar/2010/minnesota.html

July 20……..Adventures, Virginia……..leave Thompson Hill at 6:30 pm.

July 23-25…Blueberry Festival, Ely….get your fill of delicious anti oxidants. Oh so good and good for you.

July 27……..White Birch, Solon Springs…..leave Thompson Hill at 6:30 pm

July 29-Aug 2…….Tall Ships Festival, Duluth. Ahoy Mattie, batten down ye hatches! 8 tall ships, replicas of old schooners and other sailing vessels begin arriving on July 28 and will parade under sail through the Canal Harbor on July 29th. The festival includes tours of ships, day sails and pirate school for kids.

Our deepest sympathy goes out to Vicki and Bob Peacy in the loss of Vicki’s mother on June 16th.

Welcome to our newest members: Wayne and Debbie Lunde. We are glad you jumped aboard!

Congratulations to Vicki Peacy who is joining the retired workforce on July 2nd. Watch out Bob, no more excuses on why your “honey do list” hasn’t been completed.

Happy Birthday Wishes to:
Carol Rein…….27th who shares her birthday with (I’m sorry Carol, this one is just too good to pass up) the first time Bugs Bunny said “What’s up Doc?” in 1940.

Now, when you spin your “dial of fun and frolic” and head out, please enjoy the roads, the weather and the places you go, but most of all be watchful and remember………be careful out there.
